Fire Testing and British Standards

Here at Dartford Metalcrafts, we prioritize the safety of residents and staff, therefore paralleling the British Standard and manufacturing our products to the highest standard to ensure they’re fire safe for the longest time possible is of utmost importance to us.

Our chute hoppers and automatic cut-off units have a pivotal role in the fire safety system of a building. This is why testing our products regularly is so important to us.

BS1703 : 2005 – Refuse chute and Hoppers – Specification.

All our products meet requirements of this comprehensive British Standard. From dimensions and design specifications , materials used, right up to installation and certification
provided.

BS476 part 22 : – Fire tests on building materials & structures, methods for the determination of the fire resistance of non-load bearing elements of construction.

Our hoppers were last tested in October 2020 at Cambridge Fire research, a specialist UK fire resistance and product development test laboratory.

They were tested and continued to carry their fire-rating, even when the test was terminated, at 4 hours and 20 minutes.

This means DMC boast the highest fire-rated hopper, in the UK.

In addition, we had our hoppers tested for smoke containment at Building Research Establishment (BRE) to ensure they conform to, BS476 part 31.1 : 1983.
